I think the reason there is no picture is because you can get the brush at Wally World in a 3 pack for around $1. :)
Why not capitolize on your own idea/materials? Those bears turn out very cute, I imagine she got tired of responding to "how do you do that!" Kudos for originality, if you think about it, even if we think it's pretty funny people pay a fortune seeking perfection. Heck, look at those who go for facelifts, liposuction, etc. Oh, deep water there, huh? LMBO
Granne
VERY good point Granne! :)
Ok, here is a counterpoint. Don't you think you will diminish your own sales, in the longterm, by giving away your secrets? Sure, she is making money right now, but there are already some pretty decent attempts at her bears and there will be a lot more to come. Pretty soon the market will be flooded with Lisa lookalikes and don't think they won't title theirs similar to hers. IMHO, I just think from a long-term perspective, selling off your secrets is a mistake.
But hey, I've been wrong before.
Gee, I wonder if she'll copyright it? Is this the tool that Olivia uses?
How can you copyright something that is already being sold at stores in the cosmetic section?
I have seen one of Olivia's pcs. - my mom has one & no this isn't the tool that I can tell that she uses. :)
"How can you copyright something that is already being sold at stores in the cosmetic section? "
The same way a person may copyright something that is being made by millions of people across the world
I think that there is a lot to be said for integrity. I am not interested so much in keeping my successful techniques a secret so that I will not diminish my sales. Of course I am not terribly successful on eBay ;). But, I am a firm believer in "Do unto others".
I think eventually everyone figures out how someone does something and copies it anyway,(sad but true) so she is smart to capitolize on her own idea like granne said. And she has been around long enough that people will still want a "lisa" bear not a copy of the originator.
I might add that she shared her technique a long time ago for free on ebays main scrapbooking board.
at least she has a buy it now and isn't charging $15 for an eyebrow shaper...
you guys have it wrong, Lisa is not using an eyebrow shaper. I bought one of her brushes and it is definately not the same "fluffer" as the one pictured below.
But you'd be surprised to find out what her brush does look like. I know I was.
I don't think anyone here thinks Lisa is using an eyebrow shaper.. =) that is a one of a kind auction! LOL! I hope
so I bought the Nocks-zem@ Bikini shavers at wally, and It doesnt really help fluffing at all! Am i missing something?
If you do a web search for tear bear fluffing tool, you'll see one that has three small picks coming out of the bottom. I use a small wire brush that I bought a long time ago when I use to make stained glass items.
for anyone who wants to know how to really get those bears fluffy dont spend hours fretting over it, just go to wallys paint section and get a set of three wire brushes for 2 bucks, enjoy secret spoiled!! :)
Thank you secret spoiler !!!! i am going to wallys 2 day
Actually i do not think lisa has a thing to worry about period her bears are spectacular and she is a sweatheart of a lady trying to support her and her children from her ebay income...She can safely tell her secret because it would be extremely difficult to copy her style it is all in the eyes and faces of her bears:)
I agree with Lindsey and scrappydappy32. I was actually a tab bit thrown back when I seen the comment under the "Another tool". No picture? So what, lots of sellers do this. I bet when you purchased your first set of tear bear instructions the seller did not open up the manual and take photographs of it for their auction. Well, did they? You had to wait like everyone else. Lisa just has a great marketing sense.
Also, Lisa is a wonderful lady. She is super sweet and very kind. I honestly do not think there is one bear maker who could duplicate her work, even if they had her brush and her instructions. Just as no one can duplicate Olivia, roostervk or Lindsey Ray.
I think adding your comment was rather cruel. I never realized this was going to be a bash the seller blog. So sad.
The DBPP blog is not a "bash the seller blog" at all. Members of DBPP know that we are a friendly and inviting group .. those that visit the group. This is simply something that was sent in to the blog for posting .. as is most of our material.
I personally would never purchase something I can not see. Sellers need to realize that back in the day you may have been able to not post a photo. But ebay has come a long way. Photos are needed.
Perhaps you should better review your mailings sent to for your blog postings. I did take this a slam to the seller and I am sure I am not the only person who viewed the message this way.
Oh and to not purchase something you can't see is fine, but to condemn a seller for using the method which Lisa is, well, is just wrong. Lots of sellers do this and she is doing nothing but helping her business.
Seems to me the only thing that happend when this was posted was that Lisa received FREE advertising for her product .. any advertising is good advertising. I didn't not condemn this seller in any way .. the readers opinions are her buyers and they are entitled to post their opinions ... just like you are.
She is bound to come to peoples attentions and jealousies as she has been made a power seller from her teools and tequniques auctions and I say "HURRAY" more power u go girl YEAH Lisa!!
